Now that THAT is out of the way, Renault is claiming the crown of Fastest Production FWD with the Renault Megane R26.R with a time of 8:17 which is amazing and surprising that it beat out some of Honda’s best of the Type-R variant including a Civic Type-R with a time of 8:47…….yeah 30 seconds faster.
That’s what Jalopnik is reporting (via Detroit News): The Detroit News is reporting this morning that Ford and GM are exploring a possible collaboration to develop new engines and other powertrain technologies according to sources at both companies. Both of the big automakers from Detroit are looking to find ways to reduce research-and-development costs even as they respond to the shift in consumer demand from big trucks and sport utility vehicles toward smaller, more economical cars and crossovers. Details on the not-at-all-confirmed “discussion points” below.
Last weekend the Redline Time Attack series teamed up with Import Alliance to show Nashville what the growing motorsport is all about. The Nashville Superspeedway hosted the two day shootout, a track usually reserved for Nascar or Indy Series races. Like many other oval tracks, the winding infield was used along with nearly half of the track’s banking front straight away where the racers were able to reach speeds well over 100mph, testing the limits of their gearing and boost pressure. jump to gallery Continue reading ‘Redline Time Attack and Import Alliance Car Meet’
Sorry for the delay on this event coverage! BOTI hit up Budd Creeks for some fast action in the North East! Well after the news from NOPI it seems like BOTI is the future of Sport Compact Racing. Frank Choi and his crew have put in alot of hard work and dedication in keeping Battle alive! It’s kind of funny that the title of the series didn’t evolve into Sport Compact. Then again BOTSC doesn’t sound as cool as BOTI. Check out the photos! jump to gallery Continue reading ‘BOTI hits up Budds Creek’
That’s right people. One of America’s golden boys is stepping away from his MotoGP obligations to ride in the X-Games this weekend in the Supermoto event. So if you needed any motivation to watch it, here you go:
From Racer X Online: “Nicky tested the bike several times this week and promptly posted lap times at Adams Cart Track in Riverside, one of the local Supermoto tracks, that were a full second quicker than the previous fastest lap at that track. Nicky followed that up with some laps alongside his new teammates at the Honda supercross test track, where he was a little less comfortable. Still, Hayden will be a favorite when the final blasts off the line for the Supermoto final this Saturday at 4:00pm PST. Watch it live on ESPN.”
Damnit, I need Tivo! I won’t be home at that time.
Well for all of you disappointed drag race/car show fans in Atlanta, the NOPI event is still being held on Sept. 20th and 21st……….it won’t be run by NOPI thoough. Motorsport Nationals is still holding their show as many of you already know but what I don’t think many of you know is that there WILL be drag racing.
The good people at Polyphony Digital are giving GT fans a nice little treat in the form of Gran Turismo TV updates. Some of it is free and some of it is pay-per-view and includes UK’s Top Gear tv show and Best Motoring.
And here are some quick notes Sony put up on their blog:
For the first two weeks only, we are providing all pay-per-view content for at a discounted price of $.99! It’s a good way to get a taste Gran Turismo TV. The HD content we shoot for our exclusive stuff looks pretty amazing. Following the initial two-week period, content will start at $1.99. So start downloading away!
Be sure to check the full content list for a full content list, as we will be adding new programs on a regular basis.
Gran Turismo TV will also include new features that allow viewers to fast forward, rewind, and move between chapters when viewing video content.
Viewers can download up to 8 episodes simultaneously and pause individual downloads.
Oh and did I mention the gameplay updates like more tire choices and adjustments to penalty adjustments and colissions with online races. It looks like they’ve been listening to people in the forum so if you have any suggestions:
That’s right! For $12.99 you too can run a crap load of tests on your car with just your iPhone.
We’ve all seen various gadgets that are supposed to allow you to do 1/4 mile runs, lateral G tests and dyno runs and this one is no different except for it’s relatively cheap cost. Obviously, environmental factors will get in the way of it’s accuracy but it would still be cool to test out. Allegedly, it works pretty well…..or better than you would expect for $12.99
Any takers?

No Rhys won’t be drifting this coupe next year but it IS his official show car for this year’s SEMA show.
I could tell you all about the RMR turbo kit it’s getting and it’s sequential transmission but I think most of us will be more interested if this car see some track time.
