July 15, 2010 (Huntington Beach, California) – RPM stormed its way into the Windy City this past Saturday for
its highly anticipated inaugural event and it did not disappoint. Nearly 400 custom vehicles were on display,
numerous exhibitors and a crowd that was in the thousands. It is clear from the turnout in Chicago and the
positive reviews following this event that RPM is already the next big thing. For the photo gallery click here.
In many ways the show was a throwback to the way tuner shows used to be with Rich Goodwin’s (creator of
Hot Import Nights) signature nighttime production and in many ways there were new elements that made the
event fresh and exciting such as the Step to the Mic (freestyle hip hop battle), Dance Revolution (Dance crew
competition) and performances by Alex Peace (Chicago Hard House DJ legend) and MTV Jersey Shore’s DJ
Pauly D.
“We have carefully tried to blend entertainment into the event while keeping the car show our first priority and
that is the way shows used to be run”, says Rich Goodwin, Event Director for RPM. “On the other side of things
we introduced new attractions that kept the event fresh and gave it its own identity while addressing the shift to
a broader definition of who today’s tuner is .”
Now with a Chicago success story in their pocket, RPM sets its sights on the remainder of the event series
and next up is Irvine California’s Hidden Valley Event Park on Saturday August 7th. The Irvine show is the
lone daytime show in the RPM schedule and will feature new elements such as sport bike stunt competitions,
featured stunt shows by Jason Britton (the most recognized stunt rider today), Funkmaster Flex Car Show,
new model lounge and more, all set inside this one time Southern California Theme Park that was shut down in
the early 80’s and now fully restored.
