NOPI made it’s way up to the Northeast to entertain a huge crowd of die-hard drag racing fans. It was at Atco Raceway located in New Jersey where the drag racers came to put a fresh coat of rubber on the 1320.
How did I know that the fans were die-hard? Put cold and windy along with rain and you have one big mess. This didn’t stop the racers from racing and the spectators from spectating. If you got bored of racing you can always check out the vendors and the famous NOPI Bikini Contest. Highlights of the event include Gardella Racings record of 214 mph and Team Clutchmaster 10.8 E.T. in Pure Street. There were a couple mishaps such as Don Nase Jr. in his Extreme Dragster during the 1st qualifier and Joe Simpson’s top end fender bender.
