SAN DIEGO, Feb. 20, 2008 – With the focus on its Xplod® brand of mobile electronics products, Sony Electronics is announcing its sponsorship of the Xplod Number One Parts, Incorporated (NOPI) Racing Series for the 2008 season.

“The overwhelming support from racers and the automotive industry has brought incredible energy to the whole NOPI team,” said Michael Meyers, president of NOPI Motorsports. “Being able to partner with an industry leader like Sony only adds to the excitement for the new season. Sony is an incredible company with a great understanding of the automotive enthusiasts’ community.”

“Sony has been involved with drag racing for the last seven years,” said Mike Kahn, director of mobile electronics in the Digital Imaging and Audio Division at Sony Electronics. “This sponsorship demonstrates Sony’s continued commitment to the sport,”

Sony will have an on-site presence with an interactive tractor trailer display, promoting the Xplod line of car stereo accessories and Sony portable audio products, including Muteki shelf systems. There will also be two exotic show cars that show off Sony’s high-end mobile electronics products.

There are 11 drag racing events sponsored by Sony, and the company will recognize the achievements of the winning teams by offering awards for the overall champions. These champions will be presented with a Sony Electronics hardware product during the final awards ceremony.
